With great sadness, I announce my departure from PSM Makassar, the oldest club in Indonesia, with almost 110 years of history. The reason is the lack of salary payments, a situation I have faced throughout the 3 and a half years I was coach, but which has now become unsustainable.

Last season, I met with the management (Mr. Fajrin and Mr. Aksa), who assured me of financial stability and a strong project for 2025/26. I turned down other offers to continue, but the difficulties remained. It was very difficult to sign players due to the FIFA ban and the club’s bad reputation regarding payments, but even so, we managed to build a competitive team, today highly valued on Transfermarkt.

During this period, despite the limitations, we created a very strong bond between staff, players, and fans, which allowed us to overcome all obstacles. I leave now, during this FIFA break, so that the club has time to find a new coach before the match on October 19.

I thank Mr. Appi Munafri for signing me in 2022, the staff, the players who always showed loyalty and hard work, and above all the fans, the true heart of PSM Makassar.

Even with serious financial problems, losing key players every season, playing two years outside Sulawesi without a stadium in Makassar, together we achieved historic feats:

Over these 3 years, PSM Makassar was the Indonesian club with the best international performance, always playing outside Sulawesi. In addition, we managed to have the youngest squad in the league, promoting many players to Indonesia’s youth and senior national teams.
